Over the past three years, 124 complaints have been filed against them with the BBB (60 closed in the last 12 months). Reading through those complaints, a clear recurring theme emerges: homeowners who signed up for one year's appeal found the service continued into the following tax year — and billed them again — without their realizing they'd need to actively cancel to stop it. Ownwell's own terms describe the arrangement as a "subscription" that runs until canceled, which is consistent with that pattern. On Trustpilot, Ownwell sits at roughly 3.5 out of 5 from a bit over 60 reviews as of our check; the negative reviews cluster around the same auto-renewal surprise.
